DescriptionItemised account divided into the financial quarters: Michaelmas, Christmas, Lady Day and Midsummer. Debits are recorded on the left hand pages of the volume, with credits on the right hand pages, and running totals at the bottom of each page. Includes unpaid bills carried over from the Michaelmas account, 1752.
Expenses included: attendance of Dr. Wilmot upon Prince Edward for measles (GEO/MAIN/55696); cupping for Prince Edward (GEO/MAIN/55695); the Princes' allowances; household bills; donations to the Danish Mission in East Indias [Indies]; an 'operator for the teeth' for Prince Edward (GEO/MAIN/55694); playing cards at the Duke of Cumberland's (GEO/MAIN/55694); attendance at plays, masquarades operas and oratorio's (GEO/MAIN/55684, 55691-55692); garter ribbons; the Princes' clothes; telescopes; globes and engravings.
The tradesmen's bills listed include: sword cuttler, button maker, perfumer, lace maker, chairman, stationer, glover, and hatter. There are also payments to a ferryman hurt by one of the Princes' horses (GEO/MAIN/55692), and to a farmer whose horse was killed by the Prince of Wales' mare (GEO/MAIN/55684).
