| Description | Lady Berkeley writes to ask for George IV's help on behalf of herself and her family, and mentions his past support of both her and her late husband. She writes that he was privy to all the details of the concealed marriage. Lady Berkeley describes in relative detail the first marriage, its concealment and the second marriage. She reminds George IV of his promises of friendship and support to them and how this was reassuring to them, and describes the trust she had in him. He was of help particularly after her husband's death, just before which he wrote to the George IV explaining the case. She asks George IV to act as a witness in support of her and her eldest son's case, which they are petitioning. She asks to appear at court as her daughters are coming out, a position which she claims she would have had under George III |
