Date7 October [?1787]
WriterRawdon, 1st Baron
AddresseeGeorge, Prince of Wales (1762-1830)
DescriptionLord Rawdon writes that Lord Thurlow had shown him George III's answer, and suggested Rawdon write immediately to the Prince and wait on him. Rawdon also discussed the answer with the Duke of York who 'entreats that you will not make any final arrangements till he shall have conversed with you'. Rawdon advises that the Prince's 'firmness & magnanimity' in this matter will yield more advantage than a 'more gracious determination on the part of the King'.
