DescriptionPrince William describes his arrival in New York, where he was received by Sir Henry Clinton and dined with the British generals stationed in the city. He describes seeing the pedestal of the statue of the King and reports on the loyalty of the population of the city. The Prince was unable to receive the colours of the 40th Regiment Grenadiers, due to their having recently returned from the Battle of Groton Heights under the command of Benedict Arnold.
