Admin HistoryAugusta Caroline Baynes (née Compton), was the daughter of Henry and Mary Compton (née Dacres) who both served in the court of George III. Henry Compton was Page-in-Waiting to George III and Mary Dacres was in charge of the Royal children (including Princess Charlotte, Princess Royal (later Queen of Württemberg) and Princess Augusta Sophia) as Dresser from 1770 until her marriage in 1777. The couple had only one child as Mary died in childbirth. Their daughter Augusta married Thomas Baynes, a Captain in the Royal Navy on 22 July 1813.
